Storms crossing northern and central Israel since Friday reached climax Wednesday, as major flooding and power cuts forced school closures across the West Bank and Golan Heights and snow hit the capital Jerusalem.
According to Israel Democracy Institute Peace Index poll, Yacimovich has highest approval in economic issues, 60% support two-state solution, while 58% oppose splitting Jerusalem.
Despite a drop in support over the past few weeks, the joint Likud-Yisrael Beiteinu list is projected to win 34 seats in the 22 January general elections. The two parties currently jointly hold 42 seats.
Israeli media were left debating the latest flare-up in tensions between President Shimon Peres and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud government.
