Ohr Avner Foundation Presents Matzah to Baku Jews
19.03.2010, Community Life The Ohr Avner Chabad Day School in Baku has launched its pre-Passover campaign. As part of the campaign, two tons of matzah that were sent to Azerbaijan from Israel as a gift from the Ohr Avner Foundation, were distributed.
Although students had already started their spring break, they eagerly returned to school in order to receive the matzah. The significance of the matzah was not lost on them as they had already learned of its importance in school. The matzah was distributed to the school children, their families, the school faculty and staff, as well as members of the Jewish community.
“Our students were excited about receiving the matzah, which symbolizes religious freedom,” explained Samir Khanlarov, the principal of the Ohr Avner Chabad Day School.
"For this Passover gift, for his continuous support of our educational complex, and for the excellent Jewish and secular education that our students receive, we would like to sincerely express our gratitude to internationally renowned businessman and philanthropist Mr. Lev Leviev, as well as the Ohr Avner Foundation,” stated Rabbi Matityagu Louis, the director of the Jewish educational complex.
