Anti-Semitic incidents in Britain fell significantly from their record high, but the number was the second most in a year since records were kept, according to an annual report.
Figures released Thursday by the Community Security Trust showed that 639 anti-Semitic incidents were reported throughout the country in 2010.
The year 2009 had the record number of anti-Semitic incidents in the country with 926 in large part because of fallout from Israel's war with Gaza.
Included in the reported incidents of 2010 were 114 assaults, 83 incidents of damage and desecration of Jewish property, 385 incidents of verbal abuse, anti-Semitic graffiti and hate mail cases, 32 direct threats, and 25 cases of mass-mailed anti-Semitic leaflets and e-mails, according to the Jewish Chronicle.
The Community Security Trust has been documenting anti-Semitic incidents since 1984.
