Purim Gifts for Jews of Moscow
10.03.2011, Community Life Elderly Jews who are beneficiaries of the Shaarei Tsedek Charity Center received special food packages in honor of the upcoming Purim holiday.
The Center’s staff began to hand out the food packages, which will be received by an estimated 10,000 Jewish families in Moscow and the Moscow Region. For those individuals who cannot come to the Shaarei Tsedek Center for health reasons, volunteers will deliver them to them directly to their homes.
Each festive food parcel includes smoked salmon, Kauffmann vodka, wafers, sunflower oil, candy, sausages, chicken, mayonnaise, canned corn and other items.
The Shaarei Tsedek Charity Center is the largest charity center operating in the former Soviet Union. Since opening its doors to the Jewish community in the Marina Roscha neighborhood over 10 years ago, the JCC has not only become the main meeting place for Moscow Jews, but also a center of Jewish life for the entire country. Thanks to the Moscow JCC, hundreds of thousands of Jews have become acquainted with Jewish life by attending diverse events and a variety of clubs and workshops that are regularly held at the Moscow JCC.
