The stormy weather that battered Israel over the weekend is expected to persist on Sunday, following recent days' snow storms, forceful winds and a significant 16-centimeter rise in Kinneret water levels.
Israel's north saw the closure of several roads following snow and heavy rains, with Route 978 from Ha'amir Junction to Mas'ade Junction in the Golan Heights, along with the Golan's Route 98 in the section from Ein Zivan to the Hermon; Route 99 between Ein Kinia and Mas'ade; Route 91 from Lehavot Habashan to Hurshat Tall; and Route 959 from Ha'amir Junction to Bar-On Junction.
In addition, overflowing streams and massive rainfall caused the closure of Route 90 from Masada Junction to Ein Gedi and of the Tze'elim bridge on Route 234.
The stormy weather also caused Kibbutz Merom Golan in the Golan Heights to cancel school for the day, with school buses cancelled for all of the northern Golan.
However, while Israel's north was bathing in white, snow fanatics in the capital woke up to a disappointing Saturday, with only light snow that failed to stick.
The cold and wet wintry trend is expected to continue on Sunday, with meteorologists expecting rain to gradually weaken throughout the day.
