Kadima to Livni: You abandoned the party
13.06.2012, Israel The Kadima party slammed former Kadima chair Tzipi Livni's for pessimistic comments over the future of the party. In a statement to Army Radio released Wednesday morning, the party said: "Kadima does not need advice from a woman who abandoned the party after presiding over its consistent erosion over the span of three years."
At a Tuesday symposium at the IDC-Herzliya, Livni expressed pessimism over the party's future, saying "Kadima will not exist in next year's election." Livni made the comments in response to a question posed by an audience member, Army Radio reported.
Shaul Mofaz defeated Livni for the chair of the party on March 27, and just days later resigned from her post as a member of Knesset.
Sources close to Mofaz said that the new Kadima leader had tried to woo Livni to remain part of the party, but that Livni had declined the offer.
Since her defeat, Livni has made only rare public appearances.
