Cyprus President Anastasiades Nicos Anastasiades,has thanked the Jewish community centre of the Mediterrean island for its « active » and « vibrant » presence as the Jewish community celebrated last week its 10th year presence during a gala dinner.
300 guests joined the event including the Mayor of Larnaca, Andreas Louroutziatis, as well as many diplomats, ministers and members of Jewish communities.
The Cyprus Jewish Community Center, whih is headed by the Chief Rabbi of Cyprus, Rabbi Arie Zeev and Mrs Sheindel Raskin, reaches out to the Jewish people living in Cyprus through a wide variety of classes and programs and activities, which include weekly Torah Study Groups, Special Holiday Programs, website, kosher food services as well as business and tourist assistance.
The anniversary was also marked by welcoming a new Torah scroll to the Chabad synagogue.
Since 2003, the center has promoted Cyprus, her history and culture and has brought investors and businesses to the island.
The Center and its organization “Kindness in Cyprus” offer also a vast range of medical and financial assistance to the needy and disabled.
