Hamas does not "count much on such meetings which are aspects of normalization and attempt to bring into life a dead body called negotiations," Gaza Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh was quoted by Ma'an as saying on Monday in response to the meeting between Israeli and Palestinian Authority presidents.
"We do not count much on such meetings which are aspects of normalization and attempt to bring into life a dead body called negotiations," Ma'an quoted Haniyeh as saying while hosting a Moroccan delegation in Gaza City.
Peres met on Sunday evening with Abbas on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum on the Jordanian side of the Dead Sea.
Speaking on the recent US attempts to revive negotations, Ma'an quoted Haniyeh as saying he believes the United States has "nothing to offer to the Palestinian people."
As for Israel, Ma'an quoted him as saying it does not even "consider" offering the "least of the Palestinian people's rights."
"Thus, we have only one strategy, resistance and insistence on our inalienable rights," Ma'an quoted the Hamas leader as concluding.
