Matzot for Eurasian Communities
11.04.2014, Community Life Matzot at Pesach had always been a mandatory part of Jewish life, even in Soviet time. Matzot baked in Kyiv at the order of the Euro-Asian Jewish Fund, headed by Vadim Shulman, has been delivered to Eurasian Jewish communities before the Celebration of Freedom.
Matzot for needy community members was received by the following Eurasian Jewish communities: Azerbaijan (2,5 tons), Armenia (200 kilos), Belarus (2 tons), Georgia (4,2 tons), Kazakhstan (7 tons), Kyrgyzstan (800 kilos), Moldova (3 tons), Tajikistan (160 kilos), Uzbekistan (2 tons), Ukraine (15 tons).
Especially notable are the Jewish communities of Crimea, to whom matzot was delivered from Kyiv despite the problems connected to the annexation of the peninsula by Russia. Almost 37 tons of matzot in total were delivered on behalf of the Euro-Asian Jewish Fund to needy members of Jewish communities.
