The Chief Rabbi of the Netherlands, Rabbi Binyomin Jacobs, was the target of an anti-Semitic attack in which unidentified extremists threw stones at his home, yelled hatred and racial slurs against Jews before disappearing.
The incident took place at the rabbi’s house in Amersfoort.
The Chief Rabbi of the Netherlands is a senior member of the Rabbinical Center of Europe (RCA), Rabbi Binyomin Jacobs' was target of a hate crime, in which Anti-Semitic extremists threw stones and yelled racial slurs against Jews.
The attack caused extensive damage to the house but luckily no one was hurt.
It is the second attack on Rabbi Jacobs' house in less than a week.
Rabbi Jacobs said:
"Only by the grace of G-D there were no casualties from the incident. The fact that this is the second attack on my house in less than a week, demonstrates the intense hatred towards Jews that is rampaging throughout many countries around Europe,’’ the rabbi said.
Jewish and Christian Dutch organizations are planning a big rally Thursday night against anti-Semitism and in support of Rabbi Jacobs.
Following the latest attack, Rabbi Menachem Margolin, Director General of the European Jewish Association and of the Rabbinical Center of Europe (RCE) has decided to strengthen the security rules for the rabbis and Jewish institutions across Europe.
"We have been warning for a long time about the severe rise of anti-Semitism across Europe and we reiterate our demands to European governments to establish national authorities to combat anti-Semitism that along with education of future generations, will also be responsible for increasing security around Jewish institutions,’’ said Rabbi Margolin.
Rabbi Jacobs is a senior member of RCE.
