102 anti-Semitic acts have been recorded in Belgium last year, a group monitoring anti-Semitic acts in the country said.
This represents a rise of 60 % in comparison with 2013.
In 2014 Belgium has seen the worst anti-Semitic attack in its history with the killing of four people at the Jewish Museum in Brussels by an Islamist terrorist.
Other anti-Semitic attacks include the stabbing of an ultra-Orthodox Jew walking to a synagogue in Antwerp, stones thrown against a bus carrying Jewish children in Antwerp, anti-Semitic threats and insults against visitors of the National Memorial for Jewish martyrs in Brussels or anti-Semitic emails sent to institutions representing the Jewish community.
The strong surge in the number of anti-Semitic acts in 2014 was also due in large part to the impact in Belgium of Israel’s Operation Protective Edge against Hamas in Gaza last summer.
