Israel’s Economy Minister Naftali Bennett has accused the European Union of being immoral in its policy toward Israel and of trying to use its economic leverage to impose solutions detrimental to the Jewish state’s security.
Bennett made the remark in a closed-door meeting meeting with ambassadors from the EU member states in Israel, according to a recording of the meeting obtained by the Army Radio, the Israeli media reported.
"To single out Israel, to twist our arms economically in the hopes that we'll commit suicide because financially we'll get hit if we don't, it's immoral from my perspective," Bennett, who chairs the Bayit Hayeudi (Jewish Home) nationalist party, reportedly declared.
He said that the EU should instead support Israel in its struggle against a “river of terror.” Rather than attack it on the settlements.
He called on the ambassadors to help Israel fulfill its role as the last line against terror.
