St.-Sgt. Tomer Lan, one of the two IDF soldiers who was stabbed by a Palestinian terrorist in the northern West Bank on Wednesday before shooting the terrorist dead, gave an account of the incident.
An army paramedic, Lan said that he was engaged in routine operations on Wednesday morning, standing near army vehicle when a Palestinian approached the soldiers.
"He passed me, and continued for about 100 meters, before disappearing. After a few seconds he did a kind of a U-turn and headed back in my direction. When he was within a few meters from me, he started running and yelling, and pulled out a knife and stabbed me in the back. During the attack I fell and hit rocks on the side of the road."
"While I was on the floor he entered the vehicle where two of my friends were sitting and began stabbing them. I prepared my firearm while I was on the ground, aimed at him, and shot and killed him," the soldier continued.
The badly injured soldier in the vehicle sustained stab injuries in the neck and hand. "He said he was alright. I started giving him first aid. I stopped the bleeding from the neck as we called MADA and army [back-up] forces," Lan said.
