From across the FSU: ‘Darkeinu’ teachers gather in Jerusalem
09.07.2015, Israel Forty-five Jewish heritage teachers at the FJC’s ‘Or Avner’ Jewish school network in the Former Soviet Union participated last month in ‘Darkeinu’s’ annual teachers’ seminar that took place in the heart of Jerusalem, Israel.
The teachers, who teach Jewish heritage using the innovative ‘Darkeinu’ learning program – developed and designed especially for the mentality and language of today’s Russian Jewry – arrived in Israel from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Latvia and Georgia.
The four-day seminar included professional lectures, classes, workshops and brainstorming sessions. In addition, the participants were treated to tours of the old city of Jerusalem and other attractions in the Yehuda district.
The ‘Darkeinu’ Jewish heritage learning program, has been developed under the auspices of Mr. Lev Leviev, the president of the Federation of the Jewish communities of the CIS.
