                  14.11.2002

To the Chief Rabbi of Russia, the deputy Chairman of Rabbis Council of Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) Adolf Shaevich.
                  Dear Adolf Solomonovich!
On behalf of the Jewish Congress of Kazakhstan and Euro-Asian Jewish Congress uniting Jews of our continent from Australia to Moldova, from Byelorussia to Japan, from Russia to India and from myself personally let me congratulate you on the 65-anniversary.
On the post-Soviet area there are a few persons around whom the majority of the Jewish communities of the CIS is united. You are one of such leaders.
Being the Chief Rabbi of the USSR, you could answer calls of time. You had luck to start revival of the Jewish tradition, our historical and cultural heritage and restoration of ties with Israel.
You indefatigably continue this work in the rank of the Chief Rabbi of Russia. Especially, I would like to mention your achievements and contributions in preservation of unity of the Jewish Diaspora.
Due to You representatives of various branches of Judaism were united in the Congress of Jewish Religious Organizations and Communities of Russia. And we feel pride that the aspiration to preserve Jewish unity has brought you to the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress.
Your authority as well as experience and flexibility have allowed to unite leaders of various branches of Judaism from different countries in the Council of Rabbis of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress. I hope that Your active participation in activity of the Council of Rabbis will transform it into the powerful Jewish center of international level.
To sum it up, I would like once again to wish You happy birthday, to wish You good luck, health, longevity and productive work for blessing of all Jewish people.
                  Ad Mea Ve`esrim!

                  Sincerely yours,
                  Alexander Mashkevich,
The President of the Jewish Congress of Kazakhstan,
The President of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress
