On February 3-5, 2004 the 11-th Annual International Interdisciplinary Conference on Jewish Studies took place in Korolev (town near Moscow). It was organized by the Center for University Teaching of Jewish Civilization "Sefer".
The conference, which was held at support of the Chase Centre, American Jewish Distributive Committee ("Joint"), of the Jewish Agency for Israel in Russia ("Sokhnut"), Hanadiv foundation, Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) and Russian Jewish Congress (RJC), was dated to decade of the “Sefer” Center, and brought together hundreds of participants from the CIS and Baltic countries, Western and Eastern Europe, Israel and USA.
Diverse program of the Conference included religious, archaeological, historical, literary, linguistic, Zionist and culturology topics. Matters of Jewish identity and education, Holocaust, struggle against anti Semitism, interfaith dialogue, demography, sociology and psychology were also included in the Program of the Conference. A roundtable "Moscow Jewish museum: problems of creation" took a special place in the agenda.
Euro-Asian Jewish Congress not only gave financial help, but also was an active participant in the conference’s workgroups in the persons of Mikhail Chlenov, EAJC Secretary General, President of the VAAD of Russia, and Joseph Zisels, EAJC General Council Chairman, President of the VAAD of Ukraine.
