Solemn opening ceremony of the New Museum of the Remembrance Authority and Institute Yad Vashem, which serves in memory of Jewish people’s Holocaust martyrs and heroes, took place in Jerusalem, capital of Israel, on March 15, 2005.

Foreign government delegations took part in the ceremony headed by such well-known statesmen as Prime Minister of France Jean-Pierre Raffarin, Prime Minister of Denmark Anders Fogh Rasmussen, Foreign Affairs Minister of Germany Joschka Fischer, Mayor of New York Michael Bloomberg, Security Council of Russia Secretary Igor Ivanov and others.
Delegation headed by the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) General Council member and Embassy of Georgia to Israel Charge d’Affaires a.i. Senior Counsellor Jemal (Simon) Ajiashvili as well as by Head of the EAJC Public Relations and Media Department and Federation of Jewish Organizations and Communities – Vaad of Russia Vice-President Roman Spektor represented the EAJC.
In his comment on the delegation’s participation in the activities held in Yad Vashem EAJC President Alexander Machkevitch gave high appraisal of K. Annan’s speech. According to A. Machkevitch, by talking about 6 million Holocaust martyrs UN Secretary General denounced unambiguously the new wave of anti-Semitic revisionism of World War II outcome.
