EAJC Delegation's Visit to the USA.

The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) Delegation, headed by EAJC President Alexander Machkevitch visited the United States on April 3-6, 2005.
During the International Leadership Reunion session that took place in Las Vegas and gathered leaders and regional representatives of Keren Hayesod, United Israel Appeal and United Jewish Communities A. Machkevitch was elected Keren Hayesod President in CIS countries.
In New York City at the World Jewish Congress (WJC) Steering Committee session A. Machkevitch, who is a member of the top 10 WJC leaders participated in the discussion of the new WJC Charter and confirmed (in the final version) EAJC signification representative share in the WJC Governing Board.
Out of 70 Governing Board members 9 represent the EAJC including A. Machkevitch himself as well as EAJC Vice-President Alexander Bronstein and EAJC Secretary General Michael Chlenov. By regional principle it is the third largest representative share after North America and Europe.
Presented by Alexander Machkevitch EAJC Vice-President A. Bronstein’s appointment was confirmed as one of the World Jewish Congress Vice-Presidents.
President of Ukraine Viktor Yuschenko met representatives of the US Jewish organizations in the Holocaust Museum in Washington on April 6, 2005. The meeting was organized by the EAJC together with the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations (Vice-Chairman Malcolm Hoenlein) and National Conference for Soviet Jewry (Organization protecting the right of Jews in Russia, Ukraine, Baltic States and Eurasia) with Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Boris Tarasyuk's support.
At the meeting Ukraine was represented by Secretary of State Alexander Zinchenko, National Security and Defense Council Secretary Petr Poroshenko, B. Tarasyuk, Defense Minister Anatoly Gritsenko, Transport and Communication Minister and EAJC Vice-President Evgeny Chervonenko, Ukrainian President’s Advisor and world-famous boxer Vitaly Klichko, Joseph Zissels. From the American side there were present National Conference President Dr. Robert J. Meth, National Conference Executive Director Mark B. Levin, National Conference Vice-President Lesley Israel, Associate Executive Director of the Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations of the USA Carolyn Green, American Jewish Committee Honorary President Ambassador Alfred Moses, B’nigh B’rith International Executive Vice-President Daniel Mariaschin, Washington Jewish Federation Director General Michael Galperin, Chicago Jewish Joint Fund Executive Vice-President Dr. Peter Friedman, Associate Director of the acting Progressive Judaism Religious Center Mark Pelavin, Anti-Defamation League Director for government and national relations Jess Hordes, World Jewish Congress American Section Director Shai Franklin, American Chabad Lubavitch Friends Director Rabbi Levi Shemtov, NCSJ Director of Community services and cultural relations Lesley Weiss, AIPAC International Leadership Executive Steve Schneider, Orthodox Union representative Harvey Wolinetz, Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs Director for development and management Karla Jones.
Dr. Meth and President Yuschenko spoke during the meeting. In his speech the Ukrainian leader promised to start the process of Jewish community property restitution in his country.
Upon the end of the meeting Michael Chlenov presented the President of Ukraine with EAJC Yearbook with A. Machkevitch's dedicatory inscription.
