EAJC President Visit to Myanmar.

On February 6-7, 2007, the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) President Alexander Machkevitch stayed on a visit to the Union of Myanmar (former Burma).
After his arrival to Yangon, the southern capital of Myanmar, Machkevitch visited the only synagogue in the country, where he met Ruth Schatz, Israeli Ambassador to Myanmar, and the synagogue custodian Moses Samuels, the representative of the Jewish community of Myanmar. During the meeting Machkevitch invited the Myanmar Jews to participate in the EAJC events. The Myanmar Jewry expressed its consent to collaborate.
After the meeting the EAJC President moved to Naypyidaw, the Myanmar administrative capital. There Machkevitch held negotiations as the Eurasian Industrial Association (EIA) President with the Myanmar Minister of Mines Ohn Myint and the Myanmar Minister of Energy Lun Thi.
The Jewish leader also visited the Buddhist sacred places of Myanmar, as the majority of the Myanmar population are Buddhists, and met Tay Za, one of the most prominent businessmen in the country.
