Chlenov spoke in details on the changes of policies, which are implemented by the state institutions in dealing with Jewish organizations, the changes being traced for the last six months. Chlenov paid special attention to the situation around FJNCA.
He believes that the authorities are now paying much more attention to the ethnic minorities' organizations. The policy was marked by the reconstruction of the Russian Government National-Cultural Autonomies Affairs Advisory Board.
Besides, charged directly by the Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Ministry for Regional Development of Russia addressed different public associations offering them to draft their proposals on fighting ethnic and religious extremism and prevention of ethnic conflicts.
"The topic is far from being new, but there were no precedents of direct inquiry", - noted Chlenov. Two Jewish organizations received the requests - Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia (FJCR) and FJNCA.
The main work on the recommendations was largely done by members of the World Jewish Congress (WJC) Commission on FSU expert group, of which Chlenov is a Co-chairman, and also by Andrei Glotser, Rabbi-in-Chief of Russia (FJCR) Berel Lazar Assistant on public and government relations.
The expert group was created on the EAJC Secretary General initiative in October, 2006 to formulate the position of the Jewish Community of Russia on problems like fighting anti-Semitism and extremism.
