WJC Governing Board Meeting.

World Jewish Congress (WJC) Governing Board Meeting was held on June 10, 2007 in New York City, NY. Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC), the largest WJC continental branch, was represented by the international delegation with EAJC President Alexander Machkevitch as its head.
The delegation also included EAJC Vice-President Mark Shabad (Russia), EAJC Secretary General Michael Chlenov (Russia), EAJC General Council Chairman Josef Zissels (Ukraine), and EAJC General Council members: r. Zinovi Kogan (Russia), Alexander Baron (Kazakhstan), Galina Levina (Belarus), Daniel Turk (Japan), and Sumati Luvsandendev (Mongolia). EAJC Council of Rabbis Secretary General, Rabbi-in-Chief of Moscow Pinchas Goldschmidt participated in the WJC Governing Board as a special guest.
The former WJC President Edgar Bronfman addressed the participants of the meeting speaking about the reasons of his resignation. The WJC Chairman of the Executives Mendel Kaplan also presented his report at the meeting.
Then a new WJC President was elected. This post was given to the former leader of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, Amb. Ronald Lauder. Edgar Bronfman's son, Matthew Bronfman, was elected the WJC Governing Board Chairman.
The WJC Governing Board meeting was attended by the Israeli delegation with the writer Einat Wolf as its head and leaders of reputable Jewish organizations, such as: Jewish National Fund, AJJDC, Anti-Defamation League, and Jewish Theological Seminary.
