The EAJC President A. Machkevitch address to the European Council of Jewish Communities, Prague, April 2008.

The EAJC President A. Machkevitch address to the European Council of Jewish Communities

                  Ladies and gentlemen!
On behalf of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) which brings together Jewish organizations and communities of 25 countries in Eurasia and Pacific region - from New Zealand to Slovenia - let me welcome this distinguished assembly. I also welcome all participants of this forum as a President of the Kazakhstan Jewish Congress (KJC); it is particularly pleasant for me to realize that I began my international Jewish activity as a member of your organization.
European Jewish community, which has always been one of the most powerful Diasporas of our people, is going through difficult times. Coming into contact with so-called "New Anti-Semitism", Jewish communities of Europe resist this evil firmly and with great fortitude, standing up for their rights and strengthening connections between Jewish communities in different countries.
I am sincerely impressed by the great job you keep doing by reviving Jewish traditions even in smallest of the communities. I believe that in these days, when Pesah is near, most Jews of the European cities are cordially thankful to you for support that allows them to follow the Torah commandments.
In my country and in other countries, where EAJC is active, as well as in Europe, where European Council of Jewish Communities is active, the number of religious, national and cultural programs is growing; connections with Israel and international Jewish community are getting stronger.
Both your and our support of Israel is demonstrated through actions in peaceful time and in the times of war. You and we are trying to resist defamation of Israel and "new anti-Semitism", which more often appears as anti-Zionism.
I know that European Council of Jewish Communities is on the verge of organizational restructuring and would like to express hope that natural ties between our organizations will improve to benefit Jewish people.
I wish all the participants good health and success in all their undertakings.
                  Cordially yours,
                  Alexander Machkevitch
                  President EAJC
                  President KJC
