The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress Presents Condolences in Connection with the Untimely Death of the President of the World Congress of Georgian Jews Michael Gabrielovich Mirilashvili

The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress presents condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased President of the World Congress of Georgian Jews Michael Gabrielovich Mirilashvili.
Michael Gabrielovich was an irreplaceable colleague, and gave his life and unquenchable energy to the good of the Jewish people.
Michael Gabrielovich was born and raised in Kulashi, where Jewish life never quelled, and, like his relatives, continued Jewish tradition despite all difficulties from the Soviet ideological machine.
He lived a life that was typical for a Soviet engineer in his native city, worked honestly, and ended his working career as a director of a weaving factory. During his whole conscious life, he dedicated all of his free time to serving the Jewish way of life. He became a model for many Jewish activists, especially in the sphere of Jewish charity.
He made titanic efforts to unify the Jews of Georgia in the most recent years, when many found themselves without a home. He was the author of the idea of the World Congress of Georgian Jews, and in 2003 he successfully implemented the idea into reality. He was chosen President of the Congress based on merit.
It was because of the initiative of Michael Gabrielovich that the World Congress of Georgian Jews became a full member of the EAJC, which gave it a new dynamic and filled it with a unique Georgian atmosphere.
We will miss him dearly, and we pray to the Almighty that he sends consolation to all members of the family of the deceased, and to all of his colleagues, who followed his example of being a true Jew with a capital J.
                  Sincerely yours,
                  Alexander Maskevich,
President of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress
                  Michael Chlenov
Secretary General of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress
                  Joseph Zissels,
Chairman of the General Council of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress
