New Synagogue in Kazakstan

Grand opening ceremony of new synagogue “Beyt Rachel – Chabad Lubavich” took place in the city of Kostanay (Northern Kazakhstan.) Construction of the synagogue was supported by the President of Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, EAJC, Aleksandr Mashkevich. The new house of prayer opened its doors for worshipers in the days when the Third Congress of World and Traditional religions took place. International press and honorable guests - Congress participants, attended the opening.
Sergey Kulagin, Head of Kostanay oblast, Iona Mezger, Chief Ashkenazi Rabbi of Israel, Yakov Margi, Minister of Religious Services of Israel, Yeshaya Cohen, Chief Rabbi of Kazakhstan, Israel May Amin, the Israeli Ambassador to Kazakhstan, leaders of Euro-Asian Jewish Congress and the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan took part in the ceremony. Head of Kostanay Oblast Sergey Kulagin read the congratulatory address from President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbaev.
New synagogue has 893 square meters and can accomodate up to 100 worshipers simultaneously.
The grand opening of synagogue “Beyt Rachel – Chabad Lubavich” concluded with the ceremony of bringing in Torah scroll. The last letters of the scroll were written by the EAJC leader Aleksandr Mashkevich and by the President of Israel, Shimon Peres.
