Secretary General of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress Mikhail Chlenov Took Part in the “Limmud” in Israel.

On July 1 – 9, Secretary General of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC), Co-chair of the “Limud” movement, Mikhail Chlenov took part in the festival of “Limmud FSU”in Jerusalem. The festival was honoring the 150th Birthday of Jewish writer Shalom Aleichem.
The festival program included more than 200 lectures, meetings and seminars on Judaism, Russian Jewish heritage, leadership, current affairs, culture and Jewish community life. Colorful opening of the festival that took place in Jerusalem hall “Beyt Avi-Hai” draw large amount of Israel political and creative elite. The owner of bank “Discont” and son of the Head of the World Jewish Congress of many years, Matthew Bronfman.
Head of “Sohnut” Natan Sharansky, Israeli Minister of Immigrant Absorption Sofa Landaver, Minister of Information and Diaspora Yuli Edelstein, Chair of the Coalition Zeev Elkin (Likkud) addressed the “Limmud”.
Among the festival guests were the President of Russian Jewish Congress Yuriy Kanner, Knesset deputy Faina Kirshenbaum and Director General of the Ministry of Absorption Dmitri Apartsev.
In his speech at the round table on antisemitism, Secretary General of the Euro-Asian Congress Mikhail Chlenov stressed that Russian Jews, unlike in some other countries, don't encounter cases of so called “new antisemitism” that masks itself as anti-Zionism, On the contrary, he said, Israel gains more and more respect an popularity among Russians.
The festival “Limmud FSU” drew more than 750 Russian speaking participants from all of Israel including many young repatriates. According to organizers, the goal of the festival is broadening of the horizons of Jewish youth and strengthening ties between Russian speaking Jewish youth of Israel and Jewish communities of diaspora at all levels.
