On the third of May, a solemn meeting of the Union of Jewish Disabled Veterans and Veterans of War to mark the 65 th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War took place at the Moscow Palace of Youth. At the ceremony, attended by about two hundred war veterans, the home front workers, former prisoners of ghettos and concentration camps, representatives of the Committee on Relations with Religious Associations of the government of Moscow, the Russian Jewish Congress (RJC) and the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC).

The address to the meeting on behalf of the EAJC President Alexander Mashkevich stated: "Dear veterans, as once you stood on the forefront of war, today you're standing at the forefront of the struggle to preserve the memory of the war. Saving true story of the tragic and the great years is incredibly important for future generations. That is why EAJC has supported publication of a unique Book of memory of Jewish soldiers who perished in the Great Patriotic War. Live long, be with us, your children and grandchildren. Your deeds have no period of limitation, and so is admiration of your descendants for what you did.”
