EAJC President Shavuot Salutations
18.05.2010
Dear friends!
On behalf of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) I congratulate you on one of our most important holidays – the holiday of Shavuot!
This is the day when, thousands of years ago, the Almighty gave us the Torah, making a crowd of people who escaped Egyptian slavery into the People.
The Torah scroll was always the main relic for each Jewish community. Today, to our great joy, new synagogues open all around the world, and new communities are created. One of the programs that EAJC supports aims for each community to have a Torah scroll. With great joy we present scrolls to synagogues all over the world - from Tokio to Sophia, from Astana to Tbilisi, from Jerusalem to Moscow.
Recently, the Torah was brought on EAJC behald into the restored synagogue Hurva, the main synagogue of the Old City of Jerusalem. And during the celebrations of the Victory over Nazism, a Scroll was given to the Memorial synagogue on Poklonnaya Hill in the Russian capital, in memory of the Jews who were heroes and victims of World War II.
I wish us all that the light of the Torah would enlighten out life, and make us better, kinder, and wiser.
Chag sameah! Am Israel hai!
Alexander Mashkevich,
EAJC President
