Beit Moshe Synagogue Opens in Tel Aviv
02.06.2010 The opening ceremony for the reconstructed historic synagogue took place in the center of Tel Aviv. The synagogue received a new name after the reopening – Beit Moshe.
The synagogue was restored through the monetary aid of the World Congress of Georgian Jews (WCGJ), which is part of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC). The reconstruction was initiated by the President of WCGJ Gabriel Mirilashvili, recently appointed EAJC Vice President.
Its name the restores synagogue received in memory of the founder and first President of the World Congress of Georgian Jews Moshe Mirilashvili.
Among guests of the celebration were the Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of Israel Yona Metzger, Sefardi Chief Rabbi Shlomo Moshe Amar, Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin, Minister of Immigrant Absorption Sofa Landver, and many other important religious, political, and community figures. The President of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress Alexander Mashkevich congratulated the organizators, and underscored that the community of Georgian Jews was always an example of faithfulness to the Jewish tradition and of true service to the Jewish people and the Jewish state.
The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress was represented at the celebration by Vice President Merab Elashvili and General Council Chairman Josef Zisels.
