The new, eighth edition of the “Euro-Asian Jewish Congress Bulletin” (June-August 2010, or Iyar-Av 5770) has been published in Moscow by the office of EAJC Secretary General Michael Chlenov.
The secretary general’s address to the readers reads: “This summer EAJC begins a campaign that includes a number of programs to strengthen Israel’s position in the world and to express solidarity with the Jewish state. An important step in this direction was the meeting between the EAJC President and the Turkish minister, made possible by the long-standing contact between Ankara and the Jewish community on one side, and the EAJC on the other. At the end of August, an EAJC delegation will participate in the World Jewish Congress Governing Board session in Jerusalem, which will include the coordination of large-scale diaspora unions to support Israel and our reaction to the growth of anti-Semitism in Western countries. Unfortunately, however, the notion that anti-Semitism emerges only in the West is false. June has seen an explosion on the premises of the Jewish cultural and religious center in Tver. The EAJC, as well as a number of Russian Jewish organizations aided the Jews of Tver. The July session of the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany (the “Claims Conference”) is also a worthy mention, as the EAJC has participated in it for the first time as a full member of the Director’s Council. This session allowed to bring up a large number of questions that worry victims of the Holocaust on our territory, and to take steps towards their resolution.”
