The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) was the among the first to aid the children of Israelis killed in a shooting attack. Yitzhak and Tali Imas were killed by terrorists on the 31st of August, near the Kiryat Arba settlement. Their six children have become orphans. Representatives of the EAJC leadership, who were in Jerusalem at a session of the World Jewish Congress, promptly reacted to this tragedy.

EAJC President Alexander Mashkevich and Vice Presidents Alexander Bronstein, Merab Elashvili, Gabriel Mirilashvili, Mark Shabad, and Edward Shifrin made a decision to provide urgent financial aid to the children of the Imas family.

Yitzhak (Vadim) and Tali (Nataliya) Imas had repatriated to Israel from Moscow in 1991. As the EAJC representatives note, "It was natural for us to help this family, all the more so since repatriates from the former Soviet Union had been harmed. We have already spoken to the relatives and close friends of the deceased, and have discussed the practical side of transferring the material aid."
