08.11.2010 Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) First Vice President Michael Mirilashvili has made a one million US dollar donation in support of the Israeli educational network ''Migdal Ohr'' on behalf of the EAJC.
“Migdal Ohr,” established by Rabbi Yizchak Dovid Grossman and run by the same for 40 years now, has become a national educational network with a student body of thousands. Its core is made up of boys and girls from disfunctional homes, orphans, and new immigrants. Rabbi Grossman has received numerous accolades and awards including the prestigious Israel Prize for Lifetime Achievement for his outstanding and tireless work on behalf those in need. “Migdal Ohr” has also been acclaimed the best educational network in Israel.
The letter of thanks, sent to the EAJC on behalf of Rabbi Grossman, reads: “Your generous support will not only allow us to continue this important work, but will assist us in developing innovative projects that focus on providing new opportunities for orthodox youth who have not found their place in the orthodox world. Migdal Ohr currently provides these students with the ability to complete their matriculation exams, the opportunity to be trained in CNC machinery, and the skills and knowledge to ensure a bright future.”
EAJC President Alexander Machkevitch also expressed his sincere thanks to Michael Mirilashvili for his generous philanthropy and support of Congress activities. “Support for Israel is one of the most important EAJC directions of activitiy. There may be many different kinds of support. And charitable aid aimed at improving the quality of life of the young generation of Israelis, especially their education, is an investment into the strength of the Jewish state, into the future of the Jewish people,” the EAJC leader said.
