Boris Yelkin Necrology
06.01.2011 It is with great grief and a deep feeling of heavy lostt that the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) has learned of the death of the founder and perpetual head of the Eastern Ukrainian Affiliated Department of the International Solomon University (EUAD ISU), Dr. Boris Yelkin.
Boris Solomonovich Yelkin passed away on the 5th of January in Kharkiv, at an age of 63.
Dr. Yelkin was born on April 28, 1947, in Zaporizhya. He graduated from the Kharkiv State University (KSU; now the V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University) with honors. From 1970 to 1995 he worked at the KSU School of Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering. From 1995-1998 he was a professort of the Kharkiv Institute of Business and Management. In 1998 he founded the EUAD ISU, which soon became one of the important centers for Ukrainian and FSU Jewish Studies, and became a world center for the study of the history and archaeology of the Khazar Empire.
Boris Solomonovic Yelkin was a famous scientist and scholar. He had written over 130 scientific papers and inventions, as well as the development of state standards of radiometrics and photometry.
