On the 18-20 of February, the Annual Conference of Jewish Organization Leaders of the Republic of Kazakhstan took place in Almaty. The chairman of the conference, President of the Association of Jewish National Organizations of Kazakhstan, Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) General Council member Alexander Baron noted the importance of the event in his introductory speech. The participants of the conference were greeted by the Ambassador of the State of Israel to the Republic of Kazakhstan Israel Mey-Ami, EAJC Vice President Fyodor Osinin, member of the People's Assembly of Kazakhstan Gabit Nuradil. All of the speeched recognized the importance to support an atmosphere of mutual understanding and fruitful cooperation of peoples in the republic. The work of the conference was blessed by the Chairman of the Or Avner Educational Center, rabbi Shevach Zlatopolsky.

The 20th anniversary year of the Republic of Kazakhstan is also the 20th year anniversary for local work of one of the leadings sponsors of Jewish community life – the Jewish Distribution Committee (JDC). Representatives of the JDC regional leadership, Yitzhak Averbuch and Ilana Levi, analyzed JDC's 2011 strategy, and particularly its interaction with the cheseds of Kazakhstan. Their reports garnered great interest and a number of questions on the division of budget funds towards social and community programs.

Much attention was devoted to discussing pan-Kazakhstan projects, such as the Central Asian Jewish Festival "Freilehe Kinder" and the Kazakhstan Jewish Studies Competition "From Time Immemorial."
