EAJC Assists in Publishing New Tome of "Book of Memory"
24.03.2011 The 10th tome of the "Book of Memory of Warrior Jews Killed in Battles with Nazis" has been published. The 12-tome edition is published at the initiative of the Russian Union of Jewish Invalids and War Veterans (SEIVV). The 10th tome includes data on 5479 Jews that served in the army.
The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) traditionally aided in the publishing of the tome, and EAJC President Alexander Mashkevich and EAJC Secretary General Michael Chlenov received a special dedication on the first pages of the edition.
As Alexander Mashkevich notes, "We must preserve the memory of those thanks to whom we and our children are alive today. For the Jews, it is not just history – it is the history of the preservation of our people. And we feel both gratitude to and pride for warrior-Jews who fought alongside with soldiers of other nationalities agains a cruel and remoreseless foe. The Congress supports the initiatives of the Russian Union of Jewish Invalids and War Veterans as much as it is able, and among these initiatives, the "Book of Memory," a fundamental edition commemorating the fallen, is one of the most important."
