The EAJC President and Lithuanian Foreign Minister Agree to Hold Forum on Tolerance
29.03.2011 During his working visit to Vilnius, the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) President Alexander Mashkevich met with the Lithuanian Foreign Minister, the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Audronius Ažubalis. This is the second recent meeting between the EAJC President and the head of the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Various spheres of possible cooperation between the OSCE and the EAJC were discussed during the previous meeting in Astana.
The talks in the Lithuanian capital focused on an issue recognized as top-priority by both parties -— holding an international conference dedicated to developing tolerance through education under OSCE auspices. According to the agreement, that had been achieved Vilnius will be hosting the conference. The EAJC will become one of the organizers of this important event. It is expected that the forum will be held at the highest possible level with participation of leading world politicians, statesmen, public figures, scholars, experts, and training specialists.
As Alexander Mashkevich stressed, “The EAJC has worked closely with the OSCE or many years, in particular, on monitoring anti-Semitism. In addition, work on the development of tolerance is one of the most important activities of our Congress. On We have collected considerable positive experience in this field. I am delighted that we have the opportunity to raise our cooperation with the OSCE to a new level, joining our efforts in such an important matter for the modern world as the formation of tolerance.”
