Rabbi Pinchas Goldshmidt: “The existence of Jews in Europe must not be threatened!”
27.03.2012 "The fact that the Toulouse terrorist called himself a mujahiddin makes us be especially alert towards extremist groups actively propagating Fascist ideology, terroristic ideas, call for hate and violence,” said the President of the Conference of European Rabbis, Secretary of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) Rabbi Council, Head Rabbi of Moscow Pinchas Goldschmidt.
The secretary of the EAJC Rabbi Council expressed his concern on the anti-migration rhetoric of certain important political figures, noting that it can provoke violence, as the KER press service notes.
“Questions of religious traditions, ethnic minorities, communities of immigrants – careless comments on any of these topics from leading politicians, from leaders of the radical right, can be seen by some people as an argument to go and kill children,” Rabbi Pinchas Goldschmidt noted.
Pinchas Goldshmidt also turned to the entire European and global community with a demand to provide for the necessary level of security of Jewish organizations. “Just recently, similar tragedies were prevented at the last moment in Azerbaijan and Georgia. Now there is a pressing necessity to guarantee that the existence of Jews on the European continent is not threatened.”
