The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress congratulates Ephim Grigory'evich Gologorsky on his 80th anniversary! Ephim Gologorsky is a member of the EAJC General Council, President of the International Union of Jews – Former Prisoners of Fascism, and a merited power engineer of the Russian Federation.

The celebratory note that Michael Chlenov, EAJC Secretary General, sent to Ephim Gologorsky reads as follows:

“The leadership and members of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress give their heartfelt salutations on your 80th anniversary!

We are amazed by the selfless devotion that you have carried throughout your life both in your scientific and community work. The harsh years of the Great Patriotic War, the years of ruin after its end, and the time of Stalinic anti-Semitism merely served to temper you character without destroying your humanity. On the contrary, these difficult experiences have helped you achieve your ends in the most inhospitable of circumstances, to become an exemplary warrior.

Your coming to the “Jewish street” of Russia gave many former prisoners of Nazi camps and ghettos not mere glimpses of hope, but a true certainty in that they will not be forgotten and will gain a rightful place among those who have survived the Holocaust. Through your scholarly thoroughness and Jewish perseverance, you were able to establish a dialogue with international organizations – a task that had been anything but easy, for unfortunate stereotypes had for the longest time led to former prisoners being seen in a way that was hardly deserving.

Your life is an example of true service and self-giving for the good of the Jewish minority of the post-Soviet territory.

We wish you health and happiness from your work on behalf of the Jewish people, a job which you have always done with true enthusiasm,
