Stories and Creativity Promote Tolerance
13.06.2012 On June 8-9 the Kyiv Tolerance Club of the Congress of National Communities of Ukraine held events dedicated to cultural diversity and interethnic tolerance for children and adults who were guests of the Eurogorodok. The events were held with the participation of members of the Kharkiv and Khmelnitsky tolerance clubs.
Santiago and Xavier Donoso taught Latin American dances, and Klev Nitumbi, a member of the Kharkiv Tolerance Club, taught moves from African dances which imitated the cheetah and lion.
Children as young as 10 months and as old as 12 years listened to stories and participated in performances in Ukrainian, Russian, German and in the Volzhsko-Tatar language. Jewish, Crimean Tatar and Armenian stories were read in Russian with elements of original words. Ulyana Ustinova drew fairy tale butterflies with the children, and Yana Korobenko helped the children sew dolls.
Andrei Knizhniy, Lena Pochayevets, and Anna Lenchovskaya held a discussion for adults about short videos on human rights.
The events were organized with the financial support of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress.
