LvivKlezFest Ends in Concert Gala
23.07.2012 On July 22nd, the IV International Festival of Jewish Music LvivKlezFest ended in a grand twelve-hour gala concert. Bands from Austria, Germany, Israel, Moldova, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, France, and Sweden played under the open sky in places tied to the Jewish history of the city.
The festival began work on June 22nd, and over a month Lviv hosted Jewish musical evenings, as well as exhibitions, competitions, workshops and tours connected to the history and culture of Galytsian Jewry. The aims of the festival are to preserve and develop traditional Jewish musical culture, to strengthen and widen creative contacts, as well as to form a climate of tolerance and mutual understanding in the region.
The Jewish NGO Chesed-Aryeh was the organizator of the festival. The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress provided support in the preparation and during the festival run.
