Salutations to the Jewish Community of Armenia on its 20th Anniversary
24.08.2012 Dear Friends!
The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, which unites Jewish communities and organizations on three continents, would like to present its heartfelt salutations to the Jewish community of Armenia on the 20th year of its full-blooded and fruitful existence.
The Jews of Armenia were and yet remain one of the most united and enterprising Jewish communities in post-Soviet territory. We are truly proud that your community is an integral part of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress and aids the consolidation of Jewry not only in the region where it had been created and formed, but at the international level.
The active participation of Armenian Jews in the restoration of Jewish tradition, in actions of solidarity with Israel, in the fostering of a new generation of Jewish youth makes your community an example for other representatives of the Jewish Diaspora.
Today, like in days of old, the Jews of Armenia keep the sacred tradition of hospitality and mutual aid. We all know how deeply the roots of good neighborship run with the representatives of the indigenous population. This experience has never led to assimilation, and the Armenian Jews preserved their identity, respecting th traditions and ways of the Armenians. This practice needs to be developed and made an instrument of strengthening tolerance, especially since the Jews and Armenians are made closer by the suffering they survived together, the sacred memory of which is preserved by both peoples.
We have no doubt that the Jewish community of Armenia as part of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress will continue to be respected and supported throughout the world. We wish all members of the community health, the ability to work hard, and success.
