                  The Jewish community of Almaty (Kazakhstan) has held a memorial event for Swedish diplomat Raoul Wallenberg, who had saved thousands of Jews during World War II. The event was organized by the Mitzvah Association of Jewish Communities of Kazakhstan, which is a part of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress.

                  Among those who took part in the memorial meeting were Majilis Deputy, member of the Kazakhstan People''s Assembly Council Ahmed Muradov; Temporary Appointee in Swedish Affairs in Kazakhstan Mane Vanborg; Councilor on Trade and Commerce of the Embassy of Hungary in Kazakhstan Ishtval Maklari.

                  Upon opening the event, the Mitzvah Association President, EAJC Presidium member Alexander Baron noted the services of Raoul Wallenberg to the Jewish people and presented his thanks to the kingdom of Sweden for gifting the world with this brave man.
                  Mane Vanborg stressed in his reply that Raoul Wallenberg became a hero to the Swedish people for his actions during his diplomatic mission in Hungary.

                  Ahmed Muradov thanked the Mitzvah Association in his speech for the contribution it has been making through its work for developing interethnic coomunication and mutual respect among peoples wo live in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
