                  Almaty Memorial Meeting for Jewish Anti-Fascism Committee

                  The Jewish community of Almaty (Kazakhstan) has held a memorial meeting on the occasion of the 60th year since the tragic death of the leaders and members of the USSR Jewish Anti-Fascism committee. Euro-Asian Jewish Congress Presidium Member, President of the Mitzvah Association of Jewish Communities of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alexander Baron stressed in his introductory speech: “We must remember the best of our people, their merits and their fates. Youth especially must preserve this memory, for in youth's hands lies the future of our people and hope that such injustice and crime against the Jewish people will never be repeated again.”

                  Young Jewish people participated actively in the meeting. Many young members of the Jewish community participated in the retelling of the stories of life and death of the Committee members/ The storytellers included Anastasia Borovikova, Natalia and Nikolai Tresvyatskiye, Marina Arepyeva, Anastasia Ursulova, Andrei Denisyuk and other young community members. Commemorative candles were burned in honor of the members of the committee.

                  Over 60 people participated in the memorial ceremony.
