On August 17 and 19, openings of newly recreated memorials in places of mass burials of Jews murdered by firing squad during World War II took place in the Andrushov District of Zhitomirska Oblast' (Ukraine). The recreation of the memorials was a result of the efforts put forward by a Jewish initiative group of former residents of the region, led by Alex Balyshin (Israel), and with aid from the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress.

Memorials were opened in the following villages: Chervonoye, Ivnitsa, Staraya Kotelnaya, and near the district center, Andrushovka.
Among those present at the opening ceremonies were locals, representatives of local governing bodies and the Jewish communities.
