Young Jewish Activists of Eurasia Meet With WJC President

                  08.05.2013

On May 7th, participants of the Conference of Young Leaders and Activists of the Jewish Communities of Eurasia, which is taking place in Budapest as part of the events of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) at the same time as the Plenary Assembly of the World Jewish Congress (WJC), have met with the leadership of the WJC. Among those who took part in the meeting were WJC President Ronal Lauder, WJC Secretary General Robert Singer and EAJC President Vadim Shulman.

During the meeting, the youth presented their concept for the development of the EAJC's Youth Sector. The participants of the EAJC youth conference also talked about how they see the main trends of development of the Jewish movement in Europe and Asia. The young generation believes that special attention must be given to strengthening the processes of globalization within the Jewish movement as well as to turning existing youth projects into networks.

Ronald Lauder approved of the idea and expressed his own vision of the future of the global Jewish movement, which was in many ways similar to propositions made by youth representatives.

Vadim Shulman noted that the importance of the EAJC Youth Sector as a new structure within the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress is due to an increasing demand for new forms of work and communication among youth; these new forms will make the Jewish movement current as well as a good choice in the multitude of choices offered by the world to all young people.

The result of the meeting was an agreement on further support and copperation.

Later that day, a meeting took place between the activists of the newly-created EAJC Youth Sector and the members of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress General Council members.
