The delegation of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC), comprising of EAJC General Council Chairman Josef Zisels, EAJC Shorashim Project Director Natalia Bakulina, and the coordinator of the Congress project “Roots of Tolerance - Caucasus - 2013” Miroslav Greenberg, visited Georgia to help prepare implement a number of Congress project in the Southern Caucasus region. The delegation held a number of working meetings to further this goal.

The EAJC partners in the Southern Caucasus are the Analytical Center for International Projects (Tbilisi, leader - Agit Mirzoyev), the Jewish Cultural Center (Tbilisi, leader - EAJC General Council Member Elena Berkovich), as well as EAJC General Council member on behalf of the Azerbaijan Mountain Jews community Matvey Elizarov.

On June 15, EAJC representatives held meetings and job interviews with candidates for counselor positions in the “Shorashim - Caucasus - 2013” project, as well as with the counselors of the “Roots of Tolerance - Caucasus - 2013” project.

The aim of the “Roots of Tolerance” project is to foster inter-ethnic and interfaith tolerance, to counteract xenophobia, to form an active civil position among members of national communities, and to disseminate information about the national and religious diversity of the region.

The camp works on a unique method of immersion, developed by the teachers and the psychologists of the Congress. Every day for the participants is a day in the life of a different culture.

Similar camps have been being held by the Congress in a partnership with various organizations for over 10 years now. The experience of this unique project, tested in Ukraine, has recently been spread out into other countries whose Jewish communities are a part of the EAJC.

On June 16, the Congress delegation toured a number of hotels, searching for the right place to hold EAJC projects in the Southern Caucasus region.

On June 18, the EAJC delegation left for Baku, to hold similar meetings with partners from Azerbaijan.
