                  Update on the Restoration of the Jewish Museum in Lviv

                  The Association of Jewish Communities and Organizations (VAAD) Ukraine and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in Ukraine (Lviv) have finished the preservation and restoration of the roof of the former community house on 12 Sholem Aleichem street. This house is to host the restored Lviv Jewish Museum and the conservation was necessary to preserve the building through the winter.

                  The building dates to late XIX and was constructed as per the design of architect Anthony Fleschel. Before World War II the building belonged to the Jewish community, and the Jewish museum worked on its third flor from 1934 to 1939. Now the building belongs to the Jewish community, but is in critical condition and stands empty.

                  The EAJC Secretary General, Chairman of VAAD Ukraine Josef Zisels has met with the Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of the Museum of Polish Jewish Maryan Turskiy as part of the perparations to restore the museum. Perspectives of cooperation to restore the Jewish Museum in Lviv were discussed.
