The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress expresses its grave concern at the fact that the European Court of Justice has excluded Hamas from the list of terrorist organizations. This solution, even if it was implemented due to some "technical reason" or other and declared to be "temporary", strengthens the position of terrorists seeking legalization and those politicians who are attempting to force a solution to the "two states for two peoples" dilemma by bypassing agreements that have already been reached and bilateral negotiations. Moreover, the refusal to consider Hamas a terrorist structure brings grist to the mill of the forces that have been trying to delegitimize the Jewish state for several years now.

It should be obvious to all sensible people that Hamas, which made bloody attacks against Israeli civilians its daily practice and held thousands of Palestinian children, women and elderly persons hostage, has been a terrorist organization in the past and remains one now.

The EAJC, representing Jews from 25 countries on two continents, sees the active growth of anti-Semitism in Western Europe as a direct consequence of political populism and condonation of anti-Israel forces. EAJC calls for the abolition of the decision adopted by the Court and hope that common sense will prevail in this matter as quickly as possible.
