                  Tankred Golenpolsky Obituary

                  05.03.2015, Russia

The important Jewish community activist Tankred Grigoryevich Golenpolsky, 84, has passed away after a long illness in Moscow.

Tankred Golenpolsky had been a journalist, a translator, and an expert in American literature. Since 1989 he had been the founder and chairman of the Editorial board of the “International Jewish Newspaper” (known as “Herald of Jewish Soviet Culture” prior to 1990), and in certain years he had also been part of the Presidium of the Federation of Jewish Communities and Organizations (VAAD) Russia and the Russian Jewish Congress. The history of the Jewish restoration in the former Soviet Union and then in Russia can hardly be imagined without Golenpolsky and his creation, the “International Jewish Newspaper.”

The leaders and workers of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress offer their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
