The “Samal” health resort hosted the competition “On a first name basis with choreography” organized by the Jewish community of Almaty. Five teams of nine people each took part in the competition. Each team was led by a captain - a young leader of the Jewish community. The project was organized and led by Anna Yeremina, a choreographer of the Rimon Jewish community center, who raised a generation of dancers who, having graduated from her school of Jewish dance, can now create choreographic routines themselves.

The competition was opened by the Chairman of the Mitzvah Association of the Jewish Communities of Kazakhstan, EAJC Presidium member Alexander Baron. He noted the importance of the project and wished the competitors successful performances.

There were four rounds of the competition: greeting (a cheerleading routing); presentation of an event from Jewish history through dance; a competition for the captains about the theory of choreography; and rebuses for the teams. The final event was the “Wreath of Friendship” - a dance that represented different ethnic groups. The competition was won by the “Sababa” team led by Anastasia Trokhimchuk.
