                  EAJC General Council Chairman Speaks at Human Rights Panel Discussion

                  On May 31, the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) General Council Chairman, Co-Chairman of the Association of Jewish Communities and Organizations (VAAD) Ukraine Josef Zisels spoke at the international panel discussion “Dialogue of Human Rights Activists of Russia and Ukraine for Peace and Human Rights” that took place in Kyiv.

                  Josef Zisels read his report as part of the panel titled “Major Issues of Ukrainian Society as Seen by Human Rights Activists.”

                  The panel was organized by the joint efforts of the Center for Civil Liberties (Kyiv, headed by Alexandra Matviychuk) and the UCSJ (USA, President Larry Lerner, Director of International Bureaus and Activities Dr. Leonid Stonov).

                  The work of the Round Table will continue until June 3. Representatives of civil society and human rights activists will discuss such topics as “First Results of Ukrainian reforms”; “Independent Investigations and Documentation of Crimes in the Donbass Region”; “Problem of Russian Military Presence in the Donbass Region”; “Prisoners of War, Hostages, Wanton Arrests, Torture”; ”Human Rights Problems in the Crimea”; “Peacekeeping Civil Initiatives for Regulating the Conflict”; “Problems of Communicating with Russian Society”; “Human Rights and Civil Society in Russia: Evaluation, Estimates, and Strategy.”
